Early Tennessee Automobile Manufacturers

This work is a summary of entries made in the reference book titled: "Standard Catalog of American Cars 1805-1942".The 16 entries for automakers contained in that book served as the basis for the information gathering contained in this work. Access to digital copies of trade publications, including "The Horseless Age" and "The Motor World", enabled the writer to find period references for those companies. This work is an attempt to verify or exclude the manufacturers listed in The Standard. After looking at all of the available evidence a conclusion about the 16 companies in question is presented. Finally, a call is made in an attempt to further the research into the early history of automobiles in Tennessee and to alter the way automotive history is present in general
